German Accident Insurance Standards (UVV)

UVV-Audit: What does a fleet manager need to know!

Article § 57 Abs.1 der BGV D29 of the German Accident Insurance Standards, requires that the working condition of all company vehicles be inspected by a qualified technician when required – but at least once a year. As part of this inspection the vehicles road worthiness as well as its safe working condition is looked at.

Disregarding these conditions can result in fines of up to 10,000 Euro plus drivers licence penalties. In the event of death or injury those responsible for the vehicle involved could face heavy fines or even jail time.

In any event all insurance claims entered by a fleet company in breach of the UVV will be denied.
